Rediscovery Project - A Project Focusing on Textile Upcycling
The project sponsored by Filmar Nile Textile Company, Alex Bank (a subsisiary of Intesa San Paolo Group) and San Zeno Foundation of Verona in the framework of the Cotton for life initiative in cooperation with the IUAV university of Venice, FDC in Cairo and Orsola de Castro’s Reclaim to wear.
The objective of the project was to introduce sustainable thread of a product lifecycle, this project is a main tool to address the first entry steps into environmental and ethical sustainability decision making and addresses some of the basic principles that drives a sustainable growth of a fashion business.
Understand pre and post-consumer textile waste and leftovers and how to reduce the negative environmental impacts that it generates by re-introducing it in the design and manufacturing process.
Outcomes: 3 groups of start-ups young designers understanding and investigating sustainable solutions and zero waste approach in the fashion field where the emphasis is on the innovative design that produces no residues.
