Tafaneen 1 Project
The Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in cooperation with the Fashion and Design Center (FDC), The Leather Technology Center and The Jewellery Technology Center, established Tafaneen Incubator.
In 2017 “Tafaneen Creative Industries Incubator”, has been launched through the National program for specialized technological incubators “INTILAC”.
The main objective of this project is to offer young start-ups an intensive technological business training with the aim of helping them to establish their own small Companies.
The Entrepreneurship program has been adapted in 3 fields: Ready Made Garments, Jewelry and Leather goods.
Outcomes:
Eight Egyptian brands in the fields of Fashion, Jewelry and Leather goods, have registered their companies
Tafaneen 2 Project
In 2021 “Tafaneen 2” was launched, starting from June 2021 to December 2022, for the aim of building the capacities of 15 start-ups and helping them to establish their small enterprises.
Following the announcement of “Tafaneen 2”, 320 submission requests were received from all over Egypt covering most of the Governorates, 90 interviews were conducted and 50 start-ups were selected at the pre-incubation phase.
Within the framework of this program Nahdet El Mahrousa (our business partner) in partnership with FDC, JTC & LTC, delivered a training bootcamp to 50 idea-stage start-ups, while supporting them in delivering their work plans and offering them an intensive business guidance, technical training and mentoring.
Each one of the start-ups provided a different idea and showcased a prototype, hence their work was evaluated by a judging panel in a setting that stimulates a real life experience and a pitching competition that assessed their business concepts from all angels namely product viability, reenue model & scalability.
15 ideas were eventually selected to be part of the program’s second stage where FDC, JTC & LTC were responsible for offering them an intensive guidance, technical training and mentoring in collaboration of experts in the 3 sectors: Fashion, jewelry & leather.
